Orlando Health seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to provide quality patient care through diagnostic sonographic imaging. This role involves close collaboration with Radiologists, compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintenance of high-quality images. Candidates must have RDMS certification and at least one year of sonography experience.
Orlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly-owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in-patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care. Position Summary
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for
interpretation and/or intervention.
Essential Functions
• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Exercises professional judgment in performance ofservices and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheresto Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desiredresults.
• Performs proper patientidentification,acquires patient’s clinical history, and assuresthatthe information is accurately documented.
• Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulatestechnical factorsto achieve high quality imagesfor interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is
demonstrated.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Controlstandards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipmentto prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases
• Assists in supervision ofstudent sonographers and training of new sonographers.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Assists with directing daily workflow.
• Orients and preceptsstaff.
• Participates on committees.
• Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies,the ADA, FMLA and otherfederal,state, and localstandards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, andprocedures
Education/Training
Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility
guidelines.
Licensure/Certification
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS)registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
