Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist for a full-time, days position in High Point, NC. The role requires ARDMS/ARRT certifications, OB/GYN or abdominal registry, and BLS.

You will perform ultrasound exams, support radiologists, and contribute to patient-centered care in a collaborative hospital setting. Compensation includes a competitive base with a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 (new grads $10,000) and relocation assistance up to $5,000 for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Examines requests and verifies orders on assigned patients.
  • Assists Radiologist in invasive procedures.
  • Evaluates exam quality and adapts technique for efficiency.
  • Keeps the Patient-Centered Care philosophy in practice.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor/engineer.
  • Operates radiology computer system for exams and supplies.
  • Maintains a neat work area and stocking of supplies.
  • Adheres to department rules and professional standards.

Position Highlights

What You Will Need
  • Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S).
  • One of the following registries are required: Abdomen (AB), or Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program required in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.
What You’ll Do
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.
  • Assists Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
  • Evaluates technical quality of exam and develops a superior varied technique for elevated efficiency in the department.
  • Supports and contributes to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a Caregiver, whose role is to meet the needs of each patient.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer and/or Engineer.
  • Operates the Radiology computer system to include entering and charging exams and supplies.
  • Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Assists in keeping the area completely stocked.
  • Adheres to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner always.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance.
  • Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting during normal operation.
  • Requires mental skills to read and comprehend patient orders and technical materials.
  • Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment.
  • Intact sense of sight and hearing.
