UC Health is hiring a PRN Sonographer for the Float Pool at UC Health's Ambulatory locations.

The role of the Sonographer is to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic images of various organs and structures of the human body through the use of high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound). Ultrasound is an operator-dependent imaging modality, requiring an advanced understanding of anatomy and vascular physiology.

Responsibilities
  • Perform biopsies and interventional ultrasound procedures. Rotate weekends and be on-call with a response time within 45 minutes.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment.
  • Involve family/guardians in assessment, initial treatment, and ongoing care.
  • Identify physical limitations and deploy interventions as necessary.
  • Recognize and respond to behavioral health issues.
  • Interpret population-related data and plan care accordingly.
  • Address psychological, cultural, and religious needs. Perform treatments and operate equipment safely.
Clinical
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures following protocols.
  • Review patient histories and service requests for appropriateness and completeness.
  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Select and operate complex ultrasound equipment, regulate technical factors, and review studies for diagnostic quality.
  • Provide routine patient care, practice aseptic techniques, and assist in emergency procedures.
  • Maintain records and supplies.
  • Instruct students and participate in continuing education.
  • Conduct equipment tests and participate in quality control programs.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ultrasonography program or equivalent education pathway.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences, or related health sciences.
  • Registered or registry-eligible by ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum: Registry-eligible new graduate.
  • Preferred: 1 year of clinical experience as a registered sonographer.
