Job summary

Job Overview

Position: Sonographer – Cardiac (Part‑time) – First Shift, Nebraska Medicine, Omaha, NE

We are seeking a skilled cardiac sonographer to perform cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound procedures and provide high‑quality education to staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound procedures.
• Acquire appropriate echocardiographic and vascular data for patient care.
• Provide education and training to fellows, interns, and other staff.

Required Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program (or one year of education equals one year of experience) with experience performing all types of cardiac ultrasound.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• BLS certification from an AHA‑endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January1,2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound experience in a healthcare environment.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Associate's degree from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program (or equivalent).
• Ability to think deductively and make clinical decisions.
• Experience with typical office equipment and ultrasound equipment, transesophageal transducers, research computer systems, Centricity hospital information system, and digital echo storage systems.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular and vascular circulatory system principles, physics, and hemodynamics.
• Registered in Cardiac Ultrasound registry (or eligible).
