Position Title:

Sonographer - Adult Imaging - PRN

Department:

Adult Ultrasound

Job Description:

General Description: Under immediate to general supervision and direction of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patient populations for the purpose of aiding medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Utilize entry-level knowledge, abilities, skills, and available resources to provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care and support services in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and outreach clinics.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with physician-ordered procedures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary care team to achieve desired clinical outcomes and operational goals.
  • Operate specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures following established guidelines.
  • Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure completion, documentation, and quality standards are met.
  • Transfer images and data to archival systems, document findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
  • Perform quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance as per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain competencies and improve care.
General Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associate's degree or higher preferred.

Experience: N/A

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Must meet eligibility requirements for ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI in the relevant specialty within 12 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to apply principles of cardiovascular and radiologic technology, medical imaging, terminology, patient positioning, and ethics. Must work well in a team, follow instructions, and report reliably. Sensitive to patient needs, capable of maintaining accurate records, and able to handle confidential information with discretion. Must be able to multi-task, stay calm under stress, and communicate professionally with staff, patients, and families. Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and core practices in the primary specialty is required.
