Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for a 1.0 FTE position with day/evening and rotating shifts on-site. Starting pay ranges from $39.41 to $59.11 per hour, based on experience. External hires are generally placed within the minimum to midpoint of the range.

The role requires graduating from an accredited sonography program, ARDMS certification, and BLS. You will perform ultrasound exams across patient types, review histories, and provide preliminary

• Graduation from an accredited diagnostic sonography program.
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Confirm orders are accurate and review patient history.
• Acquire diagnostic ultrasound images on all patient groups.
• Use independent judgment to interpret exams and provide preliminary findings to radiologist.
• Perform invasive procedures as needed.
• Take rotating call shifts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of an accrediting Diagnostic Sonography Program
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• BLS certification
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
• Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas
• Strong communication skills

Job Responsibilities

• Takes initiative to confirm orders are accurate.
• Reviews patient history for necessary information (lab results, surgeries, etc.).
• Performs difficult manipulative skills to obtain diagnostic images on all patients (outpatient, inpatient, ER, OR, and portable).
• Uses independent judgment to evaluate images and related data to interpret exams and provides preliminary findings to the radiologist.
• Performs invasive procedures.
• Takes call on a rotating basis.
• Other duties as assigned.
