Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join our Radiology team!

We’re looking for a skilled sonographer with a strong background in OB/GYN and general diagnostic ultrasound who is comfortable working independently, exercising sound clinical judgment, and providing compassionate care to a diverse patient population.

Job duties include:
  • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for patient safety during the sonographic examination.
  • Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
  • Ensure that the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant information, and meets the standard of “medical necessity.”
  • Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures.
  • Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand.
  • Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustments, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, prevent compromised data acquisition, and prevent musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer.
  • Conduct patient clinical assessment and perform the diagnostic medical sonography examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols.
  • Adhere to independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures. Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic Sonographer.
  • Assist with radiology policies and procedures and refer specific diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
  • Acquire additional ultrasound imaging, as needed, to support optimal diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
  • Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination.
  • Document and review examination images, synthesize results, prepare preliminary findings that may impact patient safety or care, and provide that information to the interpreting physician.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the Radiology facility.
  • Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records, and logs. Import radiology reports as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.
  • A graduate of an accredited Sonography program. Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiologic Sciences, or a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of sonography experience.
  • OB (Obstetric) certification required.
  • Current ARDMS or ARRT certification that meets sonography and radiologic technology requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing general abdominal & pelvic (gynecologic and obstetrical) and ultrasound-guided procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, ultrasound physics, radiographic positioning, radiation safety principles, medical terminology, patient assessment, and imaging protocols.
  • Ability to independently perform a variety of ultrasound and radiographic examinations, recognize normal and abnormal findings, identify examination limitations, and obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
  • Strong computer proficiency required, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), PACS, imaging information systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with RPMS and/or Epic preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, radiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgment, maintain patient confidentiality, and work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative healthcare environment.
