Job summary

IHA in New Hampton, IA is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations, document findings, and support ultrasound‑guided procedures. The role emphasizes adherence to mission and clinical standards, with a Monday–Friday day shift and flexible hours based on volumes.

Qualified candidates will have completed an accredited Sonography program and hold ARDMS registration or be eligible within one year of hire, with continued training in essential protocols

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is preferred, or completion of a two-year allied health program, or a bachelor’s degree.
• Active ARDMS registration or eligibility within one year of hire is expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound examinations with proper patient positioning, technical factors, and operation of 2D, M‑mode, and Doppler equipment to document anatomy.
• Assists radiologists during ultrasound‑guided procedures by preparing equipment and supporting image acquisition.
• Performs clinical assessments and uses sonographic skills to differentiate normal and pathological findings, adapting procedures as needed.
• Verifies examination orders and clinical information by reviewing requisitions and charts and ensuring proper patient preparation and scanning protocol.

Shift

Monday through Friday Day shift. No holidays, weekends, or call. Tentative hours are 8am -3pm but can be flexible pending volumes.

What You Will Do

• Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Performs ultrasound examinations using proper patient positioning, appropriate technical factors, and operation of 2D, M-mode, and Doppler equipment with appropriate transducers to accurately locate, measure, and document anatomical structures across the lifespan.
• Assists radiologists during ultrasound‑guided procedures by preparing equipment, supporting image acquisition, and providing procedural assistance in accordance with departmental protocols and professional standards.
• Performs clinical assessments and utilizes cognitive sonographic skills to identify and differentiate normal and pathological findings, adapting procedures based on clinical and diagnostic information and images.
• Confirms examination orders and relevant clinical information through review of requisitions and charts while evaluating patient preparation and scanning protocol.

Qualifications

Successful completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is preferred, or completion of a two-year allied health program, or a bachelor’s degree.

• Active registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in one (1)

Of The Following Credentials

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
• Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS) Candidates who are not ARDMS-registered at the time of hire must obtain ARDMS registration in one (1) year of hire.

Completion of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandatory Reporter training

for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within three (3) months of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within six (6) weeks of hire
