Job description

Role Overview:

This position involves providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate results. The technologist performs a variety of ultrasound procedures independently, adhering to department protocols, and assists with patient preparation, positioning, and equipment setup.

  • Key Responsibilities: Verifies clinician orders, gathers patient history, administers contrast media safely, ensures proper patient identification, reviews images for quality, responds to emergencies, and maintains equipment and infection control standards.
  • Patient Care & Communication: Explains procedures using AIDET, addresses patient questions, maintains dignity, and observes patient conditions for physician intervention when necessary.
  • Quality & Equipment: Produces acceptable images, performs routine quality control, calibrates and disinfects equipment, and ensures optimal imaging with minimal radiation exposure.
  • Operational Duties: Restocks supplies, transports and positions patients, manages documentation, and supports departmental functions, including clerical tasks and maintaining departmental standards.
  • Leadership & Training: Mentors fellow sonographers and provides constructive feedback, stepping up in leadership roles when needed.
