Job summary

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a part-time Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist in the DeSoto, Texas area. The role involves operating ultrasound scanners to obtain diagnostic images while delivering patient-centered care and maintaining RIS records.

Typical shift is 3:00pm–9:00pm, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday coverage, about 30 hours per week. The ideal candidate is ARDMS-registered, with AMA or CAAHEP-accredited training, CPR certified, and licensed where required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA-accredited sonography program or CAAHEP.
  • Registered ARDMS in good standing.
  • Licensure as Sonographer in the appropriate state (if applicable).
  • CPR certification current.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasound scanner to produce diagnostic images.
  • Explain procedures and position patients for imaging.
  • Perform routine and advanced sonography imaging with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in RIS.
  • Prepare and sanitise imaging area; ensure safety compliance.

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologistto join our team. As a Sonographer, you will be responsible for operating assigned scanner(s) to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide Sonography services within professional standards and with excellent customer service. This is a part-time position typically working approximately 30 hours each week (benefit eligible) Monday-Friday from 3:00pm-9:00pm, occasional Saturday from 7:00am-4:00pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(90%) Sonography Imaging
  • Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and procedure
  • Explains and prepares patients for sonography imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately imaged
  • Performs routine and advanced Sonography imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure
  • Adjusts sonography scan parameters correctly and as needed
  • Follows physicians' orders precisely, conforms to safety regulations, to and accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work area, including sanitizing equipment, to promote good safety habits for patients and team members
  • Maintains the American College of Radiology (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirements
(5%) Sonography Department Support
  • Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades
  • Monitor medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary
  • Assist with the training of new team members, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable
(5%) Other Duties as Assigned
  • Completes other tasks and projects as assigned

Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited sonography program, or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Registered American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) sonographer, current and in good standing
  • Sonography certification in imaging specialty (AB, BR, ObGyn, etc.)
  • Licensed Sonographer in the appropriate state (if applicable)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Must have sufficient training and experience to perform sonography procedures independently
Preferred
  • Certification in ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support)
  • OSHA Class I exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens
