Job summary

UVA Community Health seeks a Sonographer to work in concert with radiologists to obtain high quality ultrasound images and provide exceptional patient care. This PRN role requires ARDMS or ARRT certification within the first year and an educational background including a high school diploma or GED, with an Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

Work in concert with the radiologists to obtain high quality ultrasound images and provide exceptional patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred. Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT.

Experience:

1 year experience in sonography preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure:

ARDMS certified within first year of employment required.

Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and to meet the specific needs of various patient age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

  • Performs any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
  
  
  • Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
  
  
  • Critiques images for quality and makes necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary.

Physical Demand Code:

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. The base compensation for this role is $43.65 hourly.

Please note that the pay rate does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
