Summary of Position
We are seeking entry-level individuals who will thrive in a hybrid analyst/scientist/engineer role. You must be ready to learn genetics, bioinformatics, workflow, and system design. You will analyze clinical workflows, review business operations, process bioinformatics data, and develop systems. Your work will connect clinical services to data research, focusing on the intersection of Computer Science and Laboratory Science.
To succeed, you will develop a solid understanding of our clinical standards and guidelines (ACMG, ACOG, CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, HITECH, etc.) to act as an advisory specialist to other departments and leads.
Key Job Elements
Our team collaborates with critical departments: Clinical Lab, Genetic Counseling, R&D, Bioinformatics, Client Services, Marketing, Sales, and Product Management. Our main responsibilities are to scale laboratory operations, grow product offerings, and enhance capabilities through technology. We also focus on technical foresight and flexibility to meet organizational needs. Our team of 16 Computer Science experts reports to the Principal Systems Architect, who reports to the COO, then the CEO, all with Computer Science backgrounds. This is a California-exempt position. Responsibilities vary monthly based on operational needs, with approximately 50-60% of time on workflow analysis, systems design, integration, and problem-solving; 20-30% on software engineering and programming; and 10-20% on data science and bioinformatics. The role involves exercising discretion and independent judgment in managing policies and business operations.
