Solutions Engineer - Networking - Remote NY State

Cisco is seeking to fill a Solutions Engineer role in the Americas Organization who has a passion for technology and a zeal for customer interaction. You will partner primarily with a Networking Account Executive, work with Portfolio Account Teams, Partners, and other cross-functional teams to drive Cisco Networking brand preference with our customers.

Working directly with customers, you will capture detailed knowledge of requirements and provide recommendations to achieve desired business outcomes.

YOUR IMPACT: This is a pre-sales, technical role passionate about architectural selling across customers from all verticals and segments in the Americas. You will communicate technical architectures, solutions, and products to key decision-makers from Managers to Directors and above. You will establish relationships with our customers, showcase Cisco Networking products and solutions with a focus on Secure networking including Routing, Switching, Wireless, and Automation. Responsibilities include leading RFP responses, setting up demonstrations, driving proof of values, explaining features and benefits, and designing and configuring products to meet specific customer requirements.

You will work with a variety of technologies, demonstrating technical solutions and capabilities effectively, and conducting multi-architectural Proof-of-Concept tests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with Account Executives to drive business and growth opportunities.
  • Driving demand generation activities.
  • Enabling technology capabilities internally with Account Teams and externally with partners.
  • Understanding customer requirements and mapping technical solutions.
  • Maintaining deep product and solution knowledge, including product positioning and operational characteristics.
  • Performing product demos and Proof of Concept labs.
  • Maintaining competitive knowledge to strategically position Cisco’s products and services.
  • Following market trends to anticipate customer needs.
  • Aligning cross-functionally across various business entities and teams.
  • Adopting a challenger attitude to assist customers with complex digital transformation opportunities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive skills and knowledge in networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, LISP), network segmentation technologies (VRF, MPLS, ZeroTrust, SDA, 802.1x, Adaptive Policy), and network management.

Pre-sales experience with strong cross-functional teamwork and consultative skills.

  • Understanding of competitive networking products such as HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent with 5+ years of proven experience in designing and sizing Routing, Wireless, and Switching deployments both On-Prem and Cloud-based.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CCIE, CCDE, CCNP, DevNet, AWS, Google, Terraform, or the ability to achieve them.
  • Knowledge of API and programmability is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 35% to customer and partner sites. Cisco offers flexible work-from-home or office options where available.
