Kentik is looking for a Solutions Engineer to support our growing sales team and help bring the Kentik solution to market. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Kentik’s most important technical teams, work with some of the best and brightest engineers in the industry, and develop your skills within one of the most innovative companies in the networking space. Solution Engineers at Kentik have the opportunity to help shape our product strategy and enable a broad set of use cases by working directly with our customers.

What you'll do
  1. Manage all technical aspects of the sales process including product demonstration, proof of concept, customer on-boarding, and feature requests
  2. Respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
  3. Assist marketing in identifying opportunities to expand product marketing collateral to help close sales opportunities
  4. Champion of listening to customer requirements to channel product feedback and feature requests to the product management organization
  5. In collaboration with Customer Success, post-sales engineering check-ins with customers to maintain high customer success rates, share new features and product roadmap, and help customers integrate with their own in-house tools and systems
  6. Work in tandem with account team to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual booking objectives
  7. Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetups
  8. Travel to customers in designated territory
What you'll bring

  1. 5+ years experience in a high tech sales/solutions engineering or systems/network engineering role
  2. Ability to conduct technical conversations with prospects ranging from staff-level engineers and architects to senior executives
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  4. Experience managing Cisco/Juniper routers and your own Linux servers
  5. Strong understanding of network and application protocols (e.g. DNS, BGP, Netflow, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP) and their use for infrastructure design and operations
  6. Programming proficiency in a scripting language
  7. Understanding of DDoS attacks and basic mitigation methods
  8. Willingness to travel as needed - supporting accounts on both the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts

Nice to haves:

  1. Previous work experience selling to network and systems engineers and architects from Tier 1 and 2 carrier or large Enterprise accounts, especially in the Media and Entertainment industry
  2. Understand industry trends like SDI to IP, REMI (remote production), live-stream audio/video workflows, and multi-cloud.
  3. Background or product interest in security, performance, monitoring, and/or infrastructure space
  4. Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, or Perl
  5. Basic database and/or SQL experience
  6. Familiarity with open source technologies such as LibreNMS, Elastic, Grafana, and Prometheus
  7. In depth knowledge of one or more public cloud architectures (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  8. Early member of a sales team at a hyper-growth startup

The base salary range for this position is: $133,000 - $168,000, with an expected overall targeted earnings (OTE) range of: $190,000 - $240,000. The salary range and OTE reflect the low and high end of the U.S. range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role. The actual salary offered may be lower or higher than the stated range depending on various factors, including but not limited to:

  1. Experience with the skill sets required for success
  2. Demonstrated competencies and potential
  3. A geographic market-based approach
