Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Solutions Engineer - Federal based in the United States.

Join an innovative technology team advancing autonomous flight and next-generation unmanned aerial systems for federal and defense customers. In this role, you will bridge the gap between customer needs, technical solutions, and business objectives, helping government organizations successfully adopt advanced drone technologies. You will lead technical discovery, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept initiatives, and field trials to showcase system capabilities and deliver measurable results. Working closely with sales, product, and engineering teams, you will translate complex operational requirements into practical implementation plans and contribute directly to product development. This position offers the opportunity to support mission-critical applications across military, homeland security, and other federal environments. If you combine strong technical expertise with customer-facing experience and a passion for emerging technologies, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of autonomous systems.

Accountabilities
  • Lead technical discovery with federal customers to understand operational requirements, identify success metrics, and develop solutions aligned with mission objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute proof-of-concept projects, field trials, and technical evaluations to demonstrate system capabilities and validate customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive product demonstrations, including equipment setup, system operation, troubleshooting, and presentations tailored to customers and partners.
  • Lead system validation and customer implementation activities, ensuring successful deployment, integration, and alignment with technical specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on federal contracting requirements and validation processes, supporting sales, customer success, and product teams throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by preparing technical documentation, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and proposals for Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Represent the voice of federal customers by translating operational feedback, technical requirements, and mission needs into actionable product specifications and roadmap recommendations.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and sales teams to develop realistic implementation plans, resolve technical challenges, and deliver solutions on schedule.
  • Support go-to-market strategies and broader business development activities through technical expertise, customer engagement, and solution positioning.
  • Help communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, from senior government decision-makers and military leaders to operators and engineering teams.
  • Support field deployments and technical engagements, including travel to customer sites and participation in domestic and international demonstrations as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least five years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, technical expertise, and technical sales experience.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required by the applicable government contract. Employment-based visa and permanent residency sponsorship are not available for this position.
  • An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain the required clearance.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification, or the ability to obtain it.
  • Technical knowledge or hands-on experience with Department of War (DoW) and federal unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, sensors, and data analysis platforms.
  • Experience with secure, government-compliant data storage, processing, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience introducing and implementing new technologies for internal or external customers, working with technical teams to deliver projects on schedule.
  • A strong technical foundation in at least one relevant area, such as UAV systems, radio communications, software development, cybersecurity, prototyping, electronics rework, or networking.
  • Familiarity with federal technology acquisition processes, government contracting requirements, and technical evaluation procedures.
  • Excellent written communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with audiences at different organizational and technical levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, combined with the ability to manage multiple technical initiatives in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including potential international travel.
  • Prior military or federal experience operating, maintaining, or instructing on unmanned aircraft systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience operating in contested or degraded environments, including electronic warfare (EW), GPS-denied operations, and communications-limited conditions, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with mission planning, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for unmanned systems is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with radio-frequency (RF) systems, data links, mesh networking radios, counter-UAS technologies, and airspace deconfliction is beneficial.
  • Understanding of sensor payloads and tactical data-sharing platforms, including Team Awareness Kit (TAK), is an advantage.
  • Experience in test and evaluation, technology acquisition, or the deployment and fielding of new systems is desirable.
  • Ability to lead small teams during demonstrations, field trials, and deployments while effectively bridging the needs of operators, engineers, and senior leadership.
  • Customer-facing or operational experience in defense, special operations, homeland security, maritime operations, diplomatic or international environments, or installation and physical security is a plus.
  • Professional working proficiency in a foreign language, particularly Spanish, is considered an additional asset.
