Job summary

Speechmatics is seeking a Solutions Engineer to help customers evaluate and adopt our speech technology. You’ll partner with Sales to guide customers from discovery through PoC delivery and technical validation.

This hands-on role requires building demos, writing code, deploying environments, and solving real customer problems while traveling to engage with global clients across industries. You’ll also own selected accounts, share knowledge internally, and participate in onboarding and training

Job description

As a Solutions Engineer at Speechmatics, you’ll play a key role in helping customers successfully evaluate and adopt our industry-leading speech technology. You’ll partner closely with Sales to guide customers through the entire technical journey, from discovery and solution design to proof-of-concept delivery and technical validation.

This is a hands‑on role: you’ll build demos, write code, deploy environments, and solve real customer problems.

You’ll also take ownership of selected accounts, helping scale the team’s impact while gaining exposure to global customers across multiple industries. We’ll support you with structured onboarding and training so you can quickly become confident with our technology and customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Partnering with Sales to lead the technical pre-sales process from discovery to close

• Understanding customer requirements (security, scale, integrations, accuracy, workflows) and designing practical solutions

• Building and delivering technical demos, prototypes, and Proofs of Concept (PoCs)

• Deploying and configuring environments in cloud or on-prem setups for customer evaluations

• Writing scripts or lightweight integrations (Python or JavaScript) to support demos and customer testing

• Troubleshooting customer challenges and guiding them toward successful outcomes

• Delivering engaging technical presentations to customers, partners, and events

• Supporting conferences and showcases globally, including international travel, to deliver compelling technical demonstrations

• Sharing knowledge internally and helping Sales stay up to date as our platform evolves

Who We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience working in a customer‑facing technical role (Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Pre‑Sales, Technical Consulting, or similar)

• Hands‑on programming ability - ideally Python/JavaScript

• Comfortable working with APIs (REST and WebSocket), integrations, and technical troubleshooting

• Experience deploying or configuring software in cloud, Linux, containers, or networked environments

• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to translate customer needs into workable solutions

• Confident communicator who enjoys working directly with customers

• Self‑motivated, curious, and eager to learn new technologies quickly

• Collaborative mindset and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
