Job summary

Dexmate is seeking a hands-on demo engineer to articulate our robotics to first‑time viewers. You will run live demos at the office, customer sites, and trade events, set up tasks, and diagnose issues in real time to keep the robot on task.

Between demos, you will work with the sales team to scope pilots, relay customer feedback to engineering, and contribute to deploying the full lifecycle from handshake to deployed robot. This is a hardware role with on‑site work and physical tasks.

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years hands-on with physical robots.
  • Engineering degree in robotics/automation/mechatronics/ME/EE/CS or equivalent hands-on track record.
  • Proficient in Python to script demos and parse logs.
  • Comfort with ROS/ROS 2 and reading logs under time pressure.
  • You can explain a technical system to a non-technical buyer without oversimplifying.
  • Genuine composure presenting/demoing in front of an audience.
  • Willing to travel roughly 30% and perform unglamorous setup tasks.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Run technical demos for prospects, partners, and press — at our facility, at customer sites, and at industry events
  • Own demo readiness: robot setup, calibration, task scripting, teardown, shipping, and field repair
  • Build and maintain a demo library that shows our capabilities against real customer use cases
  • Join sales calls as the technical voice — answer questions on payload, reach, cycle time, safety, integration, and deployment
  • Scope and support pilot deployments: define success criteria, configure the robot, train customer operators
  • Staff booths at trade shows, including multi‑day events with long hours on your feet
  • Feed structured customer feedback to product and engineering — what people ask for, what breaks, what confuses them
  • Write the technical collateral sales needs: demo scripts, spec one‑pagers, integration FAQs

Job description

About the role

You are the person who makes our robot make sense to someone seeing it for the first time.

That means running live demos at our office, on customer floors, and on the show floor at trade events — setting the robot up, driving it through a task list that maps to what the customer actually cares about, and answering the hard technical questions in the room. When something goes wrong mid-demo, and it will, you are the one who keeps talking, diagnoses it in real time, and gets the robot back on task.

Between demos, you work with our sales team to scope pilots, respond to technical questions in deals, and bring what you hear from customers back to engineering. You will be one of the few people who sees the full arc from first handshake to deployed robot.

This is a hands‑on hardware job. You will be lifting crates, running cable, and debugging on a concrete floor as often as you are in a conference room.

What you'll do
  • Run technical demos for prospects, partners, and press — at our facility, at customer sites, and at industry events

What we're looking for

Required

  • 1–5 years of hands‑on experience with physical robots — industry, research lab, or a serious competition team (FRC, RoboCup, Robomaster, ROS‑based projects, university robotics lab, etc.)

  • Degree in robotics, automation, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or CS — or equivalent hands‑on track record

  • Proficient in Python — you can script a demo sequence, automate a repetitive setup step, parse logs, and pull data off the robot without waiting on an engineer

  • Comfort with ROS/ROS 2, teleoperation, and reading logs to diagnose a problem under time pressure

  • You can explain a technical system to a non‑technical buyer without either dumbing it down or losing them

  • Genuine composure in front of an audience — you have presented, demoed, or competed with people watching, and something went wrong, and you handled it

  • Willing to travel roughly 30% and to do the unglamorous parts: crates, cables, hotel ballrooms, 6am load‑ins

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
