Description
Summary:
The Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical lead for Globalgig customers from the first design conversation through renewal. The role combines Presales Engineering with Customer Success Engineering: the Solutions Engineer owns single-domain opportunities across SD-WAN, SASE, network security, connectivity, and wireless from discovery to signature, works alongside Field CTOs to close complex, multi-domain deals, and then stays with each customer through delivery, onboarding, Day 2 operations, adoption, optimization, renewal, and expansion.
Reporting to the VP of Solutions Engineering, this position will ensure that what Globalgig sells can be built, is delivered as designed, and continues to deliver value for the life of the contract.
- Own technical discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, and high-level architecture for single-domain opportunities, including the accuracy of the bill of materials (BOM) and statement of work (SOW).
- Partner with Field CTOs to close complex, multi-domain deals by delivering demonstrations, proof of value, and proof-of-concept work, then take ownership of the design at signature, validating configuration, licensing, serviceability, and deliverability before the deal closes.
- Own customer-facing technical documentation for the life of the contract, including architecture diagrams, policy maps, integration flows, and technical write-ups.
- Lead the technical handoff from Sales to Delivery, Project Management, and Engineering, and stay engaged through deployment to keep detailed designs aligned with the solution that was sold.
- Guide customers through onboarding and implementation, including access to portals and tools, runbooks, network diagrams, and training on management consoles.
- Transition customers into Day 2 operations, partner with the NOC on incidents and escalations, run regular optimization check-ins, and serve as the customer’s primary technical point of continuity after deployment.
- Build adoption plans for each customer’s management and monitoring platforms across Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, and Fortinet, and measure adoption against KPIs agreed with the customer.
- Lead the technical portion of quarterly business reviews, covering performance and SLA adherence, capacity, incidents and risk, adoption, and recommended upgrades or architecture improvements.
- Keep customers informed on new features, software releases, security vulnerabilities, and end-of-life and end-of-support timelines, and turn lifecycle events into refresh opportunities.
- Drive renewals and expansion with Sales and Channel teams by starting renewal conversations well ahead of contract end, surfacing out-of-scope requests as new opportunities, and building pipeline across the installed base.
- Share structured field feedback with Product Operations on platform gaps and customer needs, and contribute to reference architectures, templates, and playbooks.
- Support the VP of Solutions Engineering with additional tasks as needed.
