Solution Architect - Data Management & Data Platforms on AWS

The talented, multi-disciplinary, Solution Architect will help guide the organization teams in materializing and scaling solutions. As a Solution Architect you will be responsible for the overall technical vision of solutions, ensuring the alignment of solution designs against architectural standards and business requirements. This role will support Sale / presales and consulting teams in technology selling in the context of deploying modern data platforms, data Engineering, data governance, AI/ML and decision systems on the cloud, by defining how solutions will be implemented, ensuring they are cost-effective, re-usable, scalable and deliver the desired business outcomes for our clients. You will oversee development from all aspects including platform & infrastructure, data ingestion, and application development. You will also provide leadership in the solution and technology architecture community, setting the standards, practices, methods, and tools to implement consistent solution architecture practices across the organization, supporting high-quality solution and project delivery

Primary Responsibilities

• Work alongside sales and consulting owners to ensure strong technology and engineering representation in Client conversation
• Provide guidance and leadership in implementing tools and technologies to drive a cost-effective architecture, scalable solution on AWS Cloud
• Provide guidance in core architectural decisions including architectural conceptualization development, data integration, and tooling decisions
• Bring thought leadership and design thinking in architecture and solution design within AWS centric service offering conversations working with sale/ presale and consulting orgs
• Identify risks both technical and functional as they pertain to the solutioning, sizing, costing design and resourcing of projects. Determine release strategies, methodologies, timelines, and feature roadmaps within projects
• Design, develop, enhance, key accelerators that drive innovation and bring delivery agility to building modern data platforms and data management systems on AWS.
• Working cross-functionally and with other solution architects within the organization on integrating various solutions and services and reuse existing assets to build compelling problem solvers
• Lead migration and onboarding efforts for a multi-disciplinary development team to move to a new framework
• A combination of strategic understanding, both business and technology experience, exceptional relationship building skills and solution-oriented mindset

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/MS in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.
• Required Experiences and Skills:
• 13-16 years overall experience
• 6 to 8 years AWS centric work experience in technology including areas such as cloud deployment & integration, data engineering, and application development with deep understanding of the core services offered. Previous hands-on experience preferred.
• Deep understanding of modern data architecture including processes for both batch and streaming data as well as modern cloud-based data technology (e.g. Databricks/ Spark, Snowflake/Redshift) Data connector ecosystems such as snap logic, qlik, Fivetrans : Data Transformation technologies such AWS Glue, Metallion, Informatica, Talend and DBT etc
• Strong understanding of modern data estate design and governance concepts across Data lake , Lakehouse, Data Vaults, Data Mesh etc.
• Understanding of DevOps processes and related tools including, but not limited to, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), config management (Chef, Puppet), Git / Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc.
• Prior hands-on experience and deep understanding of application development frameworks, monitoring tools, and deployment methodologies
• Hands-on experience with AWS data analytics services like S3, IAM, ECS, EMR, Fargate, Glue and Sagemaker, Redshift, Athena, DynamoDB, Kinesis family of services
• Hands-on with python/Pyspark and SQL, building packages and managing virtual environments
• Understand data science life cycle, various data science algorithms and ML-Ops processes
• Preferred Experiences and Skills:
• Able to align and work with diverse needs across multiple vertical
• Broad business background with experience in complex systems and interdependencies
• Ability to lead a development team of diverse skillsets to include cloud, data, application, and cyber engineers and X-Ops teams
• AWS Solution Architect Certification

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $150,000 - $180,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
