Areti Group | B Corp™ is seeking a Senior Azure Solutions Architect / Technical Architect to provide architectural leadership on a Defence and Public Sector Azure cloud transformation. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery across multiple partners to ensure secure, scalable cloud environments.

You will drive architectural standards, governance, and technical alignment while guiding engineering teams through design, deployment, and optimization in a regulated environment.

Senior Azure Solutions Architect / Technical Architect

Remote | Outside IR35 | Defence & Public Sector Programme | Azure | DevSecOps | Technical Design Authority

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Solutions Architect / Technical Architect to join a high-profile technology programme operating within the Defence and Public Sector sector.

This opportunity is suited to a hands-on technical leader who can provide architectural direction, navigate complex delivery challenges, and work across multiple suppliers to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions.

This is not a role focused solely on producing architecture documentation. We are looking for an individual who can combine strategic architectural oversight with practical delivery experience, helping to shape and influence a complex Azure-based environment.

The Role

You will play a critical role in providing architectural leadership across a large-scale cloud transformation programme comprising multiple technology partners and delivery teams.

Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you will help establish architectural standards, improve delivery outcomes, resolve technical challenges, and ensure solutions are aligned to security, governance and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing end-to-end solution architecture leadership
• Establishing and governing technical design standards
• Supporting programme recovery and delivery improvement initiatives
• Working with suppliers to drive architectural consistency and technical alignment
• Identifying and removing delivery blockers
• Advising engineering teams on best practice cloud architecture and deployment approaches
• Supporting the successful delivery of secure, cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
• Acting as a trusted technical authority across multiple workstreams

Technical Requirements

Successful candidates will possess strong experience across several of the following areas:

• Cloud-native application and platform design
• Azure DevOps and DevSecOps
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep
• API architecture, integration patterns and microservices
• Azure networking, security and governance frameworks
• CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and release management
• Secure software engineering and cloud security best practices

This role requires an architect who has delivered solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from design and governance through to implementation, deployment, optimisation and support.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

• Previous experience operating within a Technical Design Authority (TDA) or equivalent architecture governance function
• Strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within complex, multi-supplier delivery environments
• A track record of resolving significant technical, architectural or delivery challenges
• The ability to challenge, influence and guide engineering teams, delivery partners and senior stakeholders
• Experience delivering large-scale cloud transformation programmes within regulated environments
