Job description

Do you understand how a lumber or building-materials business operates beyond what happens on the software screen?

We're supporting an established, industry-focused ERP provider as it expands its North American team. The company works with dealers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers across the LBM sector, helping customers improve their systems and the processes behind them.

This is a senior, customer-facing role for someone who can understand how a customer operates, identify the real problem behind a request and recommend the most effective way forward. Sometimes the answer will be better use of existing functionality. Sometimes it will involve changing a process. In other cases, you'll help define what needs to be developed.

The role
  • Lead discovery sessions and operational workshops with LBM customers
  • Understand workflows across purchasing, inventory, pricing, sales, warehousing, dispatch and branch operations
  • Identify whether requirements should be addressed through configuration, process improvement or software development
  • Recommend how customers can use the ERP platform more effectively
  • Turn operational requirements into clear direction for Product and Development teams
  • Work closely with Implementation, Project Management and technical colleagues
  • Support complex customer decisions throughout an ERP implementation
  • Identify recurring industry needs that could influence future product improvements
  • Act as a trusted adviser to customers and internal teams
The right person

You'll be someone who combines credible LBM knowledge with strong ERP experience. You don't need to be a software developer, but you must be technically confident and able to turn complex operational needs into practical software solutions.

You'll bring:
  • Strong experience within the North American lumber and building-materials industry
  • In-depth knowledge of an LBM-focused ERP platform
  • Experience in ERP implementation, solution consulting or product specialism
  • A practical understanding of how dealers, distributors or multi-location LBM businesses operate
  • Experience leading customer discovery sessions and workshops
  • The ability to identify the business problem behind a customer request
  • Experience translating customer requirements for technical teams
  • The confidence to challenge existing processes and recommend a better approach
  • Strong communication skills with senior stakeholders and operational users
  • The ability to operate independently at a senior or principal-consultant level

You may currently work for an LBM software provider or be responsible for an ERP platform internally within a dealer or distributor. What matters most is your ability to connect industry operations with what the software can deliver.
