About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a Solution Engineer Lead – Business Applications to provide technical leadership and support for a business-critical applications. This role will serve as a senior technical escalation point, helping ensure application reliability, resolve complex production issues, and drive ongoing improvements across the application portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical owner and escalation point for critical business applications.
- Troubleshoot complex production, database, integration, and data-quality issues.
- Lead high-severity incident response, root-cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions.
- Review application code, SQL/stored procedures, configurations, and technical designs.
- Design or oversee application enhancements, integrations, automation, and performance improvements.
- Build and improve monitoring, alerting, recovery, and application support processes.
- Coordinate releases, upgrades, patches, deployments, testing, and rollback plans.
- Work closely with business SMEs, developers, infrastructure, database, security, and external vendors.
- Mentor application support engineers and establish cross-training and backup coverage.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, recovery procedures, support documentation, and dependency maps.
- Help determine whether applications should be repaired, enhanced, modernized, replaced, or escalated to a vendor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, application engineering, systems integration, or production application support.
- Proven experience providing technical leadership for complex enterprise applications.
- Strong SQL/database experience with Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL, Oracle/SQL, or similar.
- Experience supporting data-intensive applications, batch processing, stored procedures, and data reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with application integrations, REST APIs, file exchanges, and data interfaces.
- Experience with C#/.NET or Java.
- Experience with CI/CD, source control, deployments, release management, testing, and rollback.
- Experience leading high-severity production incidents and root-cause analysis.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and support procedures.
Preferred:
- Energy trading, risk management, commodity management, or pricing experience.
- Experience with energy pricing, trading, scheduling, settlement, or billing.
- Azure, Azure DevOps, or GitHub experience.
- Experience with IIS, Power Automate, or enterprise automation tools.
- Experience managing technical work performed by vendors, contractors, or offshore/distributed development teams.
- ITIL, DevOps, cloud, software engineering, or database certifications.
