Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) currently seeks a GIS-focused software professional to design, develop, and install location-based technology solutions in Columbus. You will work on GIS-integrated applications, troubleshoot data and configuration issues, and collaborate with Project Management, Business Analysts, and Infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality software.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering and at least five years of GIS experience, with ESRI GIS tooling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical field is required.
• 5+ years of relevant GIS work experience are required.
• IT project development experience and ESRI GIS experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and support technology solutions including GIS and spatial capabilities.
• Troubleshoot application, data, and configuration issues using structured problem-solving.
• Engage with business partners to translate needs into practical technical solutions.
• Understand patterns involving applications, APIs, services, databases, cloud tech, and GIS.
• Apply GIS concepts, spatial data, and mapping to support location-based solutions.

Job Summary

Part of a larger team delivering high quality technology solutions to the business. Design, develop and install software solutions. Build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with internal architecture, development & design standards & best practices. Design, modify, develop, write, implement and troubleshoot software programming applications. Support and/or install software applications. Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Works within a Waterfall or Agile methodology/framework based team. Collaborates heavily with Project Management, Business Analyst and Infrastructure Job Families.

What you’ll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

• Design, configure, and support technology solutions that meet business and end-user needs, including solutions with GIS and spatial capabilities.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, data, and configuration issues using a structured problem-solving approach.
• Work directly with business partners to understand needs, translate requirements, and recommend practical technical solutions.
• Understand common solution patterns involving applications, APIs, services, relational databases, cloud technologies, and GIS.
• Apply a working knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial data, and mapping to support and troubleshoot location-based solutions.

Preferred Requirements:

• IT Project development experience, Requirements elicitation, ESRI GIS specific experience
• GIS or Technology related coursework/degree
• JIRA, Agile/Scrum, 5+ Years Experience working with GIS Tools and Technologies, ArcGIS Arcade, ArcPy

Preferred Ceritications:

• Scrum certifications, GIS Professional Certificates

• Compensation Range: $87,633.00 - $109,543.00
