Job summary

Publix Super Markets, Inc. in Lakeland, FL, is seeking a Solution Architect to lead architecture for tactical and strategic initiatives across cloud-native apps, microservices, and AI-enabled platforms. This hybrid role blends onsite collaboration with remote work.

You will partner with delivery teams, define standards, ensure scalable designs, and mentor engineers while driving cost-effective, secure solutions that align to business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related analytical discipline.
• 8+ years leading analysis of complex business problems and translating requirements into technology solutions.
• 8+ years designing enterprise-class solutions using OO analysis, design, design patterns, SOA.
• 7+ years with Microsoft.NET stack, .NET Framework/Core, Visual Studio, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps or CI/CD.
• 5+ years working across diverse configurations, techs, and environments.
• 3+ years as an Architect on development projects.
• 3+ years designing and developing cloud-native applications.
• 3+ years containerizing applications and deploying in Kubernetes.
• 2+ years experience with GenAI and Agentic AI use cases.

Responsibilities

• Lead the efforts in defining solution architectures for tactical and strategic projects.
• Produce architecture documentation and deliverables including ADRs and roadmaps.
• Provide leadership and guidance to delivery teams on architecture, design, and delivery.
• Ensure reuse of services, frameworks, and templates in proposed solutions.
• Guide adoption of Agentic AI technologies to boost productivity.
• Evaluate COTS and SaaS products against requirements, integration, and security.
• Participate in design reviews and approve design deliverables.
• Mentor project members and transfer knowledge to teams.
• Collaborate with other architects to define new standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the efforts in defining solution architectures for both tactical and strategic projects.
• Produce architecture documentation and deliverables, including Architecture Plans, ADRs, proof‑of‑concepts, standards, and roadmaps.
• Provide leadership, knowledge, and experience to delivery teams on the architecture, design, and delivery of cost‑effective and sustainable solutions.
• Ensure proper and effective reuse of application and technical services, frameworks, and standard tools and templates in the proposed solution.
• Provide guidance in identifying and implementing Agentic AI technologies in improving technology and business teams’ productivity.
• Evaluate COTS and SaaS products to ensure they meet business requirements, integration needs, and security standards.
• Ensure that all aspects of the solution design follow best practices and meet the requirements of the business by participating in conceptual and physical design, design reviews, and approving design deliverables.
• Ensure that code and other implementation artifacts adhere to standards and implement the specified design by participating in detailed reviews and providing approval.
• Provide guidance to project teams in determining what functionality currently being implemented should be exposed as new services to the enterprise.
• Provide training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to project team members.
• Collaborate with other architects to define new standards and best practices not provided by current architecture standards.

Required Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of recent experience leading the analysis of complex business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross‑system interdependencies, scalability, and total cost of ownership.
• 8+ years of recent experience leading the design of enterprise‑class solutions using object‑oriented analysis and design, design patterns, service‑based architecture, and solution frameworks.
• 7+ years of recent experience developing and deploying object‑oriented solutions with the Microsoft development platform, including the .Net Framework, .Net Core, .Net web technologies, Visual Studio, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, or other CI/CD tools.
• 5+ years of recent experience working with multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments, including databases, operating systems, application servers, web servers, messaging and message brokers, web services, workflow, security, and portals.
• 3+ years of recent working experience as an Architect on development projects.
• 3+ years of experience in designing and developing cloud‑native applications.
• 3+ years of experience in containerizing applications.
• 3+ years of experience in deploying and running applications in Kubernetes.
• 2+ years of experience in solutioning, designing, and implementing GenAI and Agentic AI use cases.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of recent experience leading the analysis of complex business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross‑system interdependencies, scalability, and total cost of ownership.
• 10+ years of recent experience leading the design of enterprise‑class solutions using object‑oriented analysis and design, design patterns, service‑based architecture, and solution frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with API technologies such as REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, and API‑first development.
• 3+ years of experience developing and deploying cloud solutions in Azure or AWS.
• 3+ years of experience in planning and organizational skills, with the ability to identify and estimate the financial impact of architecture alternatives.
• 3+ years of experience in strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, teamwork, facilitation, consultation, and negotiation.
• 3+ years of experience in strong technical acumen with the ability to comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies quickly.
• 3+ years of experience building web applications using responsive frameworks and user interface libraries such as Bootstrap, Foundation, etc.
• 3+ years of experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Deep understanding of various LLM capabilities, AI platform features, AI coding agents, and skills in promoting and integrating them for application teams.
• Knowledge and experience developing applications using Xamarin, MAUI, Kotlin, or other mobile app development frameworks.
• Knowledge and experience in architecting and developing applications on mobile platforms such as iOS and Android.
• Knowledge and experience with enterprise application integration technologies, including Kafka, IBM WebSphere MQ, and Microsoft BizTalk Server.

Year End Bonus

As a year‑end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro‑rated in the first year) each year if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
