Overview
Job Description: Solution Architect - Insurance
Mode of Work - Hybrid (2-3 days onsite)
Location - Edison/Jersey City NJ
The Insurance Solution Partner (IT Services) is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, modern technology solutions for insurance clients across Life, Annuities, Group Benefits, LTC, and related lines of business.
This role combines hands-on architecture, client advisory, and delivery leadership, supporting large transformation programs led by an IT services organization.
The architect acts as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, translating business objectives into pragmatic architectures, guiding delivery teams, modernizing legacy platforms, and enabling differentiated digital and data-driven experiences. The role requires strong insurance domain knowledge, modernization expertise, and the ability to evaluate emerging technologies (including Generative and Agentic AI) within real-world delivery constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end solution architectures aligned to client business goals, transformation roadmaps, and enterprise standards.
- Design cloud-native, API-driven, event-based solutions with a focus on scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Balance business outcomes, technical feasibility, delivery risk, and operational readiness.
- Client Advisory & Delivery Leadership: Serve as the primary architecture authority for client programs and large transformation initiatives.
- Partner with client IT, business, and vendor teams to shape solution options and trade-offs.
- Guide engineering teams through design, build, testing, and deployment phases.
- Ensure architectural consistency across multiple workstreams and vendors.
- Modernization & Integration: Architect modernization strategies for core insurance platforms (re-platform, re-factor, re-host, SaaS adoption).
- Define integration approaches using APIs, messaging, events, and abstraction layers to decouple legacy systems.
- Promote reusable patterns, shared services, and reference architectures to accelerate delivery.
- Enable data accessibility for reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
- Assess applicability of Generative AI, Agentic AI, automation, and advanced analytics for insurance clients.
- Collaborate with data, AI, and security teams to ensure compliance and secure adoption.
- Support POCs, pilots, and production-scale adoption where value is demonstrated.
- Governance & Standards: Ensure solutions align with client and internal architecture, security, and engineering standards.
- Contribute to reference architecture, accelerators, and best practices within the services organization.
- Support architecture reviews and risk assessments across engagements.
Experience & Skills
- Recent experience working on AI use cases for Insurance, backed by a good grasp of the fundamentals of AI as well as potential pros and cons.
- 7+ years of solution architecture and delivery experience within financial services, with strong preference for insurance domain exposure. Experience working for an Insurance Carrier would be a huge plus.
- Proven background in hands-on engineering across applications, integrations, cloud, or platform roles.
- Deep understanding of legacy insurance platforms alongside modern, cloud-native and hybrid architectures.
- Practical experience with leading insurance systems, standards, and frameworks (e.g., ALIP, FAST, FINEOS, ACCORD, LIMRA, Guidewire, Majesco, or equivalents).
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering integration-heavy, multi-system enterprise solutions using APIs, middleware, and integration platforms.
- Strong expertise in cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Solid grasp of system integration patterns (REST, SOAP, messaging, ESB, streaming) and data architectures including analytics and reporting.
- Comfortable operating in a client-facing, consultative role across multiple engagements, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Education + Certification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certification in AI / Gen AI / Applications of AI / AI for Insurance (nice to have)
