Executive Summary

Lantheus is seeking a highly hands-on Solution Architect for Automation, Intelligent Process, and Citizen Development Solutions to lead the next stage of enterprise automation maturity. The role is designed for a pragmatic automation leader who can identify high-value opportunities, design scalable solutions, guide implementation, and deliver measurable business outcomes across the organization.

The position is automation-first, spanning robotic process automation, workflow and process automation, intelligent automation, process mining, automated testing, conversational bots, citizen development, and AI-enabled orchestration. While artificial intelligence is an important enabler, the primary focus is on practical automation that improves productivity, quality, compliance, employee experience, and business performance.

Role Purpose and Scope

This is a deeply hands-on individual contributor role rather than a traditional people-management position. The successful candidate will personally drive work from idea through architecture, delivery, adoption, and value realization, while coordinating a small pod of external consultants, implementation partners, or specialists. Success depends on the ability to deliver rapid wins, establish confidence in automation, and build momentum toward a scalable enterprise automation capability.

The role partners closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, platform owners, data and integration teams, IT business relationship managers, business functional leaders, Legal, Compliance, Quality, and Security. It requires strong cross-functional influence, technical depth, delivery discipline, and a business-value mindset suitable for a regulated life sciences environment.

What the Role Is - and Is Note

The role is an execution-oriented automation architect position centered on enterprise-scale automation, AI-enabled orchestration, and measurable business value. It is intended for a versatile builder who can operate across strategy, architecture, delivery, change enablement, governance, portfolio value tracking while working with business functions to simultaneously market automation as a business value opportunity.

The role is not a large-team people-manager position, a purely advisory or governance-only function, or an innovation-lab role dependent on a broad internal delivery organization. Instead, it requires personal ownership, hands-on technical leadership, and the ability to deliver results through expertise, influence, and focused external delivery support.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Strategy, Center of Excellence, and Delivery

The architect will establish and operationalize an enterprise Automation Center of Excellence, including intake, prioritization, delivery methods, standards, governance, and value tracking. They will market, promote and identify automation opportunities across business functions, translate pain points into executable use cases, and shape a pragmatic roadmap that balances rapid business wins with scalable enterprise capabilities.

AI, Automation, and Analytics Enablement

The role will drive adoption and delivery across RPA, workflow automation, intelligent automation, process mining, automated testing, conversational bots, and citizen development. AI and intelligent automation patterns should be used to improve straight-through processing, exception handling, decision support, productivity, and user experience.

Training, Change Management, and Adoption

The architect will recommend and support an enterprise automation training strategy that improves automation literacy and self-service capabilities. This includes role-based learning pathways, communication plans, stakeholder alignment, and organizational change management to support automation use case identification, implementation, and adoption across business and non-business functions.

Governance, Risk, and Delivery Excellence

The role must ensure automation initiatives align with enterprise standards, information security expectations, and regulatory requirements such as GxP, SOX, GDPR, data privacy, legal, compliance, and quality standards. It is also accountable for strong partnership with IT business relationship managers, system owners, functional architects, and business leaders to ensure solutions are delivered with speed, quality, and business impact.

Financial and Portfolio Management

The architect will bring a value-first approach to automation investments, including vendor relationship management, platform investment planning, cost optimization, and automation consumption models. The role includes developing approaches for chargebacks, run-cost alignment, and potentially self-funding automation through realized savings, while prioritizing portfolio demand across run, grow, and transform initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

The position requires at least 15 years of progressive, hands-on experience across enterprise automation, process transformation, intelligent automation, AI enablement, and solution delivery. Candidates should have proven experience establishing or scaling an automation Center of Excellence using a lean operating model and a small group of external delivery resources.

Hands-on architecture and implementation experience across RPA, workflow and process automation, intelligent automation, automated testing, process mining, conversational bots, and citizen development is required. Technologies critical to the role include UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Celonis, Signavio, Microsoft Power Platform, and robust experience in using automation across large enterprise systems like SAP and all its integration/modules, CRM, Content/Medical Information Management, Customer Services Centers, SCM, Manufacturing and data platforms like Informatica, Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI etc.

A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree is preferred. Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments is preferred, particularly where automation must operate within regulated, quality-driven, and compliance-sensitive operating models. Relevant technology, cloud, automation, or life sciences certifications are highly desirable.

Company Context and Values
