Job summary

Axiom Custom Products in Portland, OR is seeking a Drafter for our Engineering team. The role focuses on turning concepts into production-ready SolidWorks drawings, with emphasis on build experience and accuracy.

You'll create fabrication and assembly drawings, maintain standards, and collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Management, and shop staff to keep projects on schedule. SolidWorks background desired; training available.

Qualifications

• Hands-on build experience in cabinets, fabrication, woodworking, welding, CNC.
• Able to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Some SolidWorks background; willingness to develop further.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic shop math.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Clear written and visual communication.
• Strong cross-department collaboration.
• Proficient with Google Docs and Slack.

Responsibilities

• Build detailed fabrication drawings from 3D models.
• Create assembly drawings, duplicate/derivative assemblies, and bills of materials.
• Apply drawing standards consistently across projects.
• Make revisions as projects evolve; keep drawings current.
• Support projects from quoting through production; coordinate with Engineering, PM and shop floor.
• Save out DXF files for production.
• Create models and drawings of templates/jigs for production.
• Create install directives.
• Simple prototype modeling and testing.
• Communicate clearly with the team.
