Job summary

State of New Hampshire’s Department of Environmental Services, Waste Management Division, Solid Waste Management Bureau, seeks a Solid Waste Permitting Engineer. The role plans, evaluates and implements professional engineering tasks for a statewide permitting program to ensure compliance of solid waste facilities and landfills.

The candidate will interpret engineering standards, federal and state laws, and department rules.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering with relevant major OR Bachelor's + MBA
• Professional Engineer licensure required or equivalent post-baccalaureate experience
• Preferred: NH PE license within 12 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate engineering studies, plans and specs for solid waste facilities and landfills.
• Prepare permits, records of decision, enforcement documents and guidance.
• Coordinate reviews with applicants, agencies and the public to meet deadlines and objectives.
