City of Atlanta seeks an experienced equipment operator for solid waste duties. Operates knuckle boom trucks, sweepers, and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner, handling waste collection tasks across assigned routes.
Position requires a valid Georgia CDL with Class A or B endorsement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Heavy lifting and routine inspections are part of the role, with opportunities to advance within the Public Works Department.
Operates knuckle boom truck, vehicles and other equipment for an assigned department in a safe and effective manner with valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License as appropriate to equipment operated. Operates trucks, equipment, performs repairs, and prepares necessary documentation. This is a fully seasoned skilled level capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of the discipline. This level would be attainable by multiple incumbents in a work group (not necessarily by all), but would not be an "automatic" promotional level.

Education and Experience – High school diploma, or equivalent. One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the operation of light to heavy-sized commercial vehicles.
Licensures and Certifications – Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Class A or B endorsement.
Preferred Requirements – Thee (3) or more years of experience in the operation of light to heavy-sized commercial vehicles; HAZMAT certification.

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
