Job summary

Kittitas County Solid Waste is seeking a Waste Operator to oversee disposal operations at its facilities, ensuring courteous service and compliance with regulations. You will calculate tonnage, inform customers of charges, direct loads, inspect waste streams, and forward receipts to processing.

The role requires operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance, monitoring pourlifts and leachate systems, and assisting with compost and MRW activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a Class A CDL endorsement and no more than two moving violations in the past two years.
• Experience operating a loader, bulldozer, excavator and tractor.

Responsibilities

• Direct customers to designated disposal areas.
• Inspect loads for liquids, regulated and hazardous wastes.
• Complete forms per operations plan and forward receipts.
• Monitor waste facilities and maintain records of equipment maintenance.
• Operate and maintain water truck, dozer and support equipment.
• Assist with MRW appointments and compost operations as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with safety regulations.
