Job summary

City of Muskogee seeks a Solid Waste Operator to operate residential and commercial refuse trucks and manage daily route schedules within the city. The role includes vehicle maintenance, cart management, and customer communication.

Applicants must have a valid Oklahoma CDL Class B, be able to work outdoors in varying weather, and handle routine physical tasks. Regular hours with possible evenings and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; two years of experience as a refuse collector or heavy vehicle driver desired.
• Knowledge of Muskogee geography and street locations; ability to work with the public and coworkers.
• Ability to work long and irregular hours, including infrequent evenings and weekends; follow oral and written instructions; maintain route records.
• Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds; work outdoors in varied weather; pass drug screening and fitness exam.
• Valid Oklahoma CDL Class B license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate residential and/or commercial refuse trucks to collect and transport solid waste.
• Wash and maintain sanitation vehicles; perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs; report deficiencies.
• Collect daily route schedules and report to the Solid Waste Supervisor I.
• Assemble, issue, pull and maintain City garbage carts; report damaged containers.
• Communicate with customers on routes and keep work area clean.
