Job summary

Lake County Solid Waste in Montana is seeking a Driver / Operator to join our public service team. You will drive transfer trucks to container sites, set and retrieve containers, consolidate loads, unload at destinations, and perform minor maintenance on equipment in all weather conditions.

Full-time with varied shifts, including weekends, this union-covered position pays $26.86 per hour. A valid Class B CDL with winter driving experience is required (Class A preferred and to be obtained by

Qualifications

• CDL with valid Class B and clean driving record, plus 1 year CDL winter driving experience.
• Class A CDL preferred; must obtain Class A by end of probation if only B is held.
• Able to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely.
• Able to perform minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather.
• Good with the public and coworkers.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to credible vehicle operation.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Roll-off and pup trailer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive transfer truck to container sites.

• Consolidate loaded containers.
• Retrieve loaded containers.
• Deliver and unload containers.
• Clean area around container site, truck, and trailer.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Move and compact waste.
• Perform landfill duties, including working at the ticket shack.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a valid Class B CDL with an acceptable driving record and a minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience in winter conditions.
• Class A CDL is preferred; if you have a valid Class B CDL, you will be required to obtain a Class A by the end of your probationary period.
• Must be able to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely and skillfully.
• Must be able to conduct minor repair and maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures.
• Must work well with the public and coworkers.
• Must be knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the operation of commercial motor vehicles.
• Must be able to lift 80 lbs.
• Roll‑off and pup trailer experience is preferred.
