City of Odessa, Texas is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to work in the Solid Waste division of the Public Works Department. You will operate specialized trucks and heavy machinery to move waste, collect trash, and support daily operations.
Under supervision, you will perform equipment maintenance, follow safety rules, report defects, and interact professionally with the public while ensuring efficient city services and adherence to policies.
Summary: Under basic supervision, operates specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment used for a variety of job functions at Solid Waste division of the Public Works Department (PWD); operates vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures.

Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities; requires constant physical efforts, and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment. City approved safety shoes must be worn.
Salary: $21.75 - $30.96 per hour
