Job description

Wilcox develops innovative, world-class electro-mechanical combat systems for today’s warfighters and law enforcement officers. We have 1st and 2nd weekday shifts open for Solderer-Electro-Mechanical Assemblers available. In this role, team members will be responsible for soldering and assembling electro-mechanical components to build the sub-assemblies and complete assemblies that constitute the company’s sellable products.


Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Solderers/Electro-mechanical Assemblers are measured collectively on the Company’s overall profitability and individually on the quality and quantity of the items that they assemble.
  2. Performs basic, standardized, and repetitive assembly operations and labeling of components, assemblies, or subassemblies.
  3. Assembles standard products within established times and quality levels.
  4. Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components, such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels, and instrument and radio panels, according to specifications, using jig boards, hand tools, and equipment.
  5. Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and solenoids, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools.
  6. Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine established assembly methods.
  7. Visually inspects parts for proper insertion and placement.
  8. Ensures assemblies and components are properly handled and marked.
  9. Ability to follow work instructions; such instructions may be provided in written or verbal form.
  10. Ability to follow process documentation during the assembly, along with work order travelers.
  11. Assembly of electro-mechanical assemblies to include cables and wiring harnesses.
  12. Stuffs, mounts, and solders components to printed wiring boards in accordance to IPC-A-610C.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Safety
  1. Reviews safety procedures and follows them, making suggested improvements.
  2. Promotes safety awareness.
  3. Seeks opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  4. Uses PPE appropriately.

Qualifications and Requirements
  1. Must have a minimum of 2 years of recent soldering experience and re-working PWB’s in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Certified to IPC-A-610C is preferred.
  3. Ability to use small hand tools, read blueprints, and assemble detailed parts.
  4. Excellent vision for reading fine print and the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time is essential.
  5. Basic computer skills are required for this job.
  6. Must have availability for over-time as needed.
  7. Committed to safety consciousness and able to always follow the company’s safety policies and procedures.
  8. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with others.
  9. Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English.
  10. Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position.
