Job summary

Teledyne Qioptiq, part of Teledyne Technologies, seeks a Solder-Assembly Technician to build and wire electro‑mechanical assemblies. You will read engineering drawings, assemble from work orders, and use hand tools, microscopes, and crimping equipment to ensure quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Three years plus soldering/assembly experience.
• Capable of soldering/desoldering of surface‑mounted devices and through‑hole components.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient with use of hand tools.
• Experience with PC board assembly.
• Hand soldering skills for small PCB‑based assemblies.
• Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
• Must read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints.
• Knowledge of components and basic ESD handling.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform soldering, build wire and cable assemblies, and conduct other assembly operations.
• Maintain and operate soldering equipment.
• Perform intermediate assembly tasks as required.
• Conduct simple mechanical fabrication and assembly using hand tools.
• Conduct/monitor experiments on high‑voltage, high‑power devices.
• Work from work orders, engineering drawings, and visual/written work instructions to assemble electro‑mechanical components.
• Identify and initiate continuous improvement for product safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Inspect finished products for quality assurance.
• Assist in resolving production failures or product issues.
• Use word processing and spreadsheet software for documentation.
• Mark and tag components so that inventory is tracked and identified.
• Utilize electrical schematics to wire systems and cabinets with minimal supervision.
• Prepare components for installation, including forming components by hand or automation, bending leads, and pre‑conditioning leads or wires.
• Operate basic equipment such as microscopes, scales, gauges, and crimping equipment.

Requirements

• Three years plus of soldering/assembly experience.
