SolarCorps Multifamily Project Coordination Fellow (Los Angeles, CA)

The Opportunity...

The SolarCorps Multifamily Project Coordination Fellow
will learn what it takes to put a solar system on a multi-family project from start to end. The fellow will also serve directly on GRID's low-income solar installation projects, helping complete all aspects of installation including but not limited to support of permitting, installation of solar panel systems, scheduling, compliance, coordination, operations, and utility interconnection. This position will prepare you to be an entry-level project or operations coordinator, or permit runner in solar or related industries.

  • Learn about the affordable housing and non-profit sector
  • Learn to evaluate solar potential, construct-ability, utility bill analysis, financial analysis, policy and solar design for affordable multifamily/commercial buildings
  • Develop solar-related educational materials for stakeholders
  • Assist in processing solar project development and design support
  • Scheduling and preparing for site visits, inspections, and service calls
  • Participate in solar PV installation, service calls, permit running, and site visits
  • Stage and load equipment before and after installation projects
  • Assist staff with preliminary design tasks and permit packs
  • Help organize and maintain project information in Salesforce and PM software


What You Need To Bring To This Role…

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 11-month commitment .
  • Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in extreme temperatures
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High computer literacy
  • Ability to learn and retain new concepts and technology quickly
  • Be comfortable in working with diverse communities
  • Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, helping families and communities in need
  • Availability for a Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in Oakland, CA


It would be great if you also had...

  • Experience with basic statistical analysis and reporting
  • Experience with MS Office (including Excel) and G-Suite (including Sheets)


Let's Talk Money...

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour, plus the benefits listed below. Fellows who complete 1700 hours with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for a cash end of term award (amount to be determined).

Where you will sit & the places you may go...

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
