Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Nevada State PV Installer’s license; NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance electrician or 4 years as a multi-craft maintenance technician in power generation, transmission, or distribution.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on solar plant components including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Conduct tests, inspections, and repairs following safety procedures and site protocols.
• Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permits to Work, and necessary documentation for safe operations.
• Monitor, control, and trend operational data to maximize plant productivity and safety.
• Inspect and troubleshoot PV electrical and mechanical equipment using multimeters, megohmmeters, and other tools.
• Perform maintenance on inverter platforms such as Sungrow, Fronius, and SolarEdge, as well as battery systems like Tesla and LG Chem.
• Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, tractors, and excavators as needed.
• Supervise and coordinate contractor activities and safety compliance on site.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies and emergent operational issues, supporting non-traditional hours as required.
• Assist with balance of plant and switchyard work when necessary.
• Maintain safety standards and environmental policies in all tasks.
• Generate reports using Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
• Support site security, deliveries, inspections, and external contractor interactions.
• Engage in continuous improvement opportunities and safety risk assessments.

Overview

The Solar Farm Technician II is responsible for safely installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing solar systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The role supports continuous power generation by independently diagnosing and resolving technical issues, collaborating with team members, and contributing technical expertise to ongoing operations and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Engineering or related field preferred
• Current Nevada State PV Installer’s license; NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance electrician or 4 years as a multi-craft maintenance technician in power generation, transmission, or distribution
• Experience with solar operations and maintenance, inverter troubleshooting, and substation maintenance
• Strong knowledge of power plant safety protocols and electrical safety practices
• Skillful in the use of hand and power tools, with familiarity with NEC regulations
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and dynamic schedules
• Willingness to travel to various job sites and support non-traditional working hours
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Physical ability to work outdoors in extreme weather, walk, climb, and lift tools/equipment over 50 lbs.
• Relevant certifications in first aid, CPR/AED, OSHA, and rescue operations
• Adaptable and proactive with ownership and safety-minded approach
