Solar Rooftop Technician

Position Type: Full-time, Nonexempt

Effective Date: 03/06/2025

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Solar Rooftop Technician supports the installation of rooftop solar PV systems. This role involves physical labor, teamwork, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality installations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Rooftop Installation
  2. Assist in the layout and installation of rooftop PV systems.
  3. Secure racking and modules to roofing structures.
  4. Ensure proper sealing to prevent leaks.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow fall protection and rooftop safety protocols.
  • Identify and report potential hazards.

Equipment Handling

  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain and organize materials on-site.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience in solar, construction, or roofing (preferred).
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of PV system components.
  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
  • Physical ability to lift objects over 50 lbs and maneuver on stairs, ladders, and rooftops.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work within 2.5 hours of Indianapolis, with potential for occasional overnights.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $17-$22/hr starting wage.
  • Benefits eligibility after 90-day probationary period, pending review and supervisor approval.
