Job summary

Empower Solar is seeking a Roof Lead Installer to join our residential solar team in California. The Lead will supervise roof installations, provide leadership and technical guidance to the installation crew, and ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on each project.

The role requires 2–3 years of solar installation experience with a proven ability to lead a crew of 3+. Applicants must be able to work in challenging conditions, read solar plans, and manage wiring and panel layout.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ solar installation experience in both commercial and residential applications.
• Knowledge of basic residential and commercial roof top installation
• Minimum 1 year of leading a crew of 3 or more
• Ability to work in challenging environments (hot sun, cold, wind, tight spaces, etc.)
• Capable of standing for long stretches of time and working at heights
• Ability to safely handle tools and materials commonly found in the construction and solar industries, such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
• Self‑motivated with an attention to productivity, detail and safety
• Ability to read basic solar and electrical plans
• Strong work ethic and excellent communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Lead a roof installation crew and guide work safely and efficiently.
• Read and follow engineered solar plans for installations.
• Perform typical roof top residential electrical work per design.
• Position and secure solar mounts and ensure modules fit per plans.
• Locate rafters and mount solar footings accurately.
• Seal and flash mounts to prevent water intrusion.
• Train and develop installation crew members.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Capture job site photos during and after installations.
• Other duties as assigned.
