IntelliPro is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support utility-scale solar construction projects across Virginia. This field-focused role involves coordinating with EPCs, managing technical issues, and supporting commissioning and closeout activities.

The position requires 5–6+ years in solar field engineering, ABET-accredited degree, and strong communication and analytical skills. Expect substantial travel (75%+) across Virginia and a competitive per diem where applicable.

Title: Project Engineer – Solar Construction
Location: Danville, VA 24541
Job Type: 1-Year Contract with Potential Extension
Travel: 75%+ throughout Virginia
Per Diem: $178/day for qualified candidates living more than 50 miles from the primary project location

Position Overview

• We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the execution of utility-scale solar construction projects throughout Virginia.
• This is a field-focused engineering position responsible for supporting project management teams, coordinating with EPC contractors and internal stakeholders, monitoring construction progress, resolving technical issues, and supporting commissioning and project closeout.
• The position will require 75%+ travel between solar project sites throughout Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the solar project management team with technical and engineering-related project activities.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Project Controls, Technical Services, Environmental, Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, and other project teams.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including EPC contractors, permitting agencies, and Owner's Engineers.
• Participate in project status meetings with EPC contractors.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with EPC contracts, technical specifications, and permitting requirements.
• Participate in site walks and monitor environmental and permit compliance.
• Manage and track RFI and NCR logs.
• Support plant commissioning activities and participate in punch-list and turnover walkdowns.
• Monitor punch-list completion and facilitate communication between construction and operations teams.
• Review contractor deliverables and provide technical feedback.
• Prepare weekly project status reports for internal stakeholders.
• Review EPC deliverables, including specifications, performance test reports, and as-built drawings, for completeness and contract compliance.
• Review environmental and third-party reports and provide recommendations to EPC contractors.
• Manage turnover documentation at key project milestones.
• Review and provide technical input on change orders, contractor notices, milestone completion documentation, certificates, and other commercial documents.
• Collaborate with other Project Engineers to maintain consistency across projects.
• Perform other project-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 5–6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Must have prior experience working as a Solar Field Engineer.
• Must have prior utility-scale solar construction experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of:
• Renewable power generation systems and equipment
• Utility-scale solar construction
• Complex construction projects
• Power distribution and transmission systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and process information quickly.
• 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program required.
• Minimum High School Diploma required.
