Job Description

As a Solar Operations Lead, you are responsible for providing leadership, direction, supervision, and technical expertise for ongoing O&M and compliance support. This includes leading your team and providing hands-on support to troubleshoot/resolve equipment issues, supporting emergency repairs, and optimizing equipment performance. You will be called upon for your skills and expertise in disciplines such as PV array, inverter, medium voltage, battery storage (BESS), and other solar services. Additionally, you will provide technical skills, training, and safety education to field service technicians, electricians, and team members. Responsibilities also include hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, disciplinary activities, conducting performance reviews, leading initiatives, coordinating with customers, scheduling work, and qualifying technicians and contractors.

Travel Requirements: Extensive regional and occasional national travel to meet client needs.

Essential Duties & Approximate Time Commitment:

Diagnose and repair solar site systems, identify potential issues, support real-time operational solutions, perform preventative maintenance, oversee warranty matters, install and maintain solar and BESS equipment, ensure safety compliance, prepare reports, and communicate with stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities: Coordinate work schedules, provide performance feedback, participate in hiring and onboarding, mentor junior technicians, oversee training, foster a team-oriented environment, and maintain effective communication.

Position Requirements:

Education: High School or Technical School Degree, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 4+ years in PV systems, BESS, data acquisition, working with high voltage systems, and solar site operations; 3+ years supervising direct reports.

Certifications: Inverter/BESS manufacturer certifications, thermography, transformer/relay training, NABCEP PV Installer, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid.

Knowledge: Electrical codes, OSHA practices, electrical diagrams, utility operations, solar installation and maintenance.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and work in extreme weather.

Competencies: Strong work ethic, supervisory ability, organization, communication, problem-solving, flexibility, attention to detail, curiosity, transparency.

Workplace Details: On-site in Baltimore, MD; Salary: $75,000-$85,000/year; Full-time employment.
