Position Summary

The part-time contractual Solar Certification Instructor will provide virtual instruction and curriculum development for incumbent workers aiming to achieve certification through the NABCEP PV Associate and NABCEP PV Installer Professional exams. The Instructor will develop and deliver an engaging, comprehensive curriculum that covers essential PV concepts, technical skills, and industry standards. This position will focus on preparing participants for successful certification and career advancement.

Responsibilities:

I. Virtual Instruction and Support

  1. Deliver virtual training sessions to prepare incumbent workers for the NABCEP PV Associate and NABCEP PV Installer Professional exams.
  2. Utilize interactive online teaching methods to explain complex topics, including solar PV technology, system design, electrical concepts, and installation practices.
  3. Provide individualized guidance and support to students, adapting explanations and resources to suit various learning needs.
  4. Facilitate live and recorded sessions, covering essential technical content, safety practices, and industry best practices.
  5. Offer exam-focused preparation, including test-taking strategies, sample questions, and practice exams.
  6. Develop a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with NABCEP certification requirements, covering relevant content for both the PV Associate and PV Installer Professional exams.
  7. Create instructional materials such as presentations, study guides, handouts, and assignments tailored to virtual learning.
  8. Stay updated on the latest NABCEP exam requirements and industry standards, ensuring the curriculum reflects current trends and technical knowledge.
  9. Integrate practical examples, case studies, and real-world applications to reinforce core learning objectives and enhance student engagement.
  10. Continuously improve the curriculum based on student feedback and certification outcomes.

III. Assessment and Progress Tracking

  1. Conduct regular assessments to gauge student knowledge and exam readiness.
  2. Monitor progress, providing feedback and additional resources to support areas of improvement.
  3. Track student attendance, participation, and engagement in virtual learning activities.
  4. Collaborate with Civic Works staff to ensure alignment of curriculum with program goals and NABCEP standards.
  5. Provide regular updates on student progress, training outcomes, and curriculum enhancements.
  6. Document key metrics related to training effectiveness to support program evaluation.

Education and Experience:

  1. NABCEP certification (PV Associate or PV Installer Professional) or equivalent advanced qualifications.
  2. Demonstrated experience providing technical instruction, including in an online environment.
  3. Familiarity with virtual teaching tools and platforms (such as Zoom and Google Classroom).
  4. Experience developing curriculum for technical certification programs.
  5. Proven track record of helping students pass certification exams.
  6. In-depth knowledge of PV systems, electrical concepts, system design, and solar installation practices.
  7. Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices in virtual instruction.

Skill and Abilities:
