Job summary

Better Earth is seeking an Inspection Technician in Cerritos, CA to ensure solar systems pass city inspections and address any issues that arise.

You will guide inspectors through installed systems, coordinate with coordinators and managers, and apply electrical knowledge to fix problems that may come up during inspections. This role requires comfort working on roofs and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Electrical background or related experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication with multiple parties.
• Willingness to work on rooftops and in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with inspectors to ensure smooth installations.
• Assist coordinators and managers, solving issues on site.
• Perform pre-inspections and on-site problem solving to ensure compliance.
• Set up ladders for inspectors and aid accessibility.
• Resolve code-related issues using electrical knowledge.

Position Summary

The Inspection Technician has the most important responsibility of ensuring all systems are ready to pass inspections; this includes walking City/County officials through a recently installed and ready-to-go solar system, and fixing any issues that may arise during the inspections!

Responsibilities:

• Communicate with inspectors to ensure efficient installation
• Communicate with with coordinators/ managers
• Solve any issues that may arise regarding code and installs (this requires electrical knowledge on how to fix said issues)
  • Examples
    • Breaker swaps
    • Grounding/bonding
    • Tie-ins
    • Wire management
• Set up and tie off ladders for the city/county inspectors
• Help county/city inspectors with accessibility problems
• Coordinate and perform pre-inspection and on-site problem solving to ensure compliance with policy

Qualifications:

• Some electrical background
• Strong communication skills with multiple parties utilizing technology
• Strong analytical, creative, problem solving, and interpersonal/human relations skills
• Comfortable being and working on roofs
• Work well with others that are on your work team
• Must have a valid state driver's license
• Must have a clean driving record
• Comfort with using technology (computer, phone, email, etc.)

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have a clean and valid driving record
• Must be comfortable working on roofs
• MUST have some electrical background
