Job summary

New Jersey Resources is seeking a Solar Field Technician for Performance Operations to coordinate maintenance and repair activities for assigned commercial solar facilities. You will provide repair recommendations, coordinate outages, and file warranty claims with EPC and OEM.

You’ll also support project managers on capital projects and act as a primary point of contact for site landowners and utility companies.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical degree in electrical, renewable energy, engineering technology, construction management or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in solar operations, electrical maintenance, project management, field service or related technical operations.
• Basic understanding of solar photovoltaic systems and electrical equipment; troubleshooting and preventive maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for assigned solar facilities.
• Analyze performance, monitor system alerts, and coordinate outages with EPC, utilities and OEMs.
• Maintain site data, warranties and manuals; support landowners, utility personnel and vendors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure OEM requirements are met.
• Travel approximately 10% to solar sites in the Northeast region.

The Solar Field Technician Performance Operations will coordinate all maintenance and repair activities for assigned commercial solar facilities. This role will provide repair recommendations based on costs and potential lost revenue eport all scheduled site outages; and file claims with EPC and OEM for work covered by warranty. Support project managers on capital projects with site commissioning, quality inspections, and punch list walkthroughs. Serve as primary point of contact for site landowners, utility companies and support vendors. Adhere to all CEV policies, procedures, and recommend process improvements to management.

Major Responsibilities

• Manage communications effectively and professionally with contractors, landowners, and utility personnel.
• Monitor system alerts and alarms; analyze performance of solar facilities to identify signs of issues or under performance.
• Coordinate outages, troubleshoot problems, implement corrective actions, and track reliability issues.
• Coordinate with EPC, utilities, support contractors, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to support maintenance activities and, track all required repair and maintenance activities.
• Operate and understand all installed equipment.
• Ensure all site work complies with OEM requirements and warranties.
• Maintain solar facility specific data including warranty information, as-built documents, equipment manuals, photographs, test reports, repair order history, preventative maintenance reports.
• Assist with the review, negotiation and enforcement of language in O&M, EPC and OEM warranty documents.
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance activities at solar facilities maintained by CEV.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams (analysts, customer care, engineering and project management) to resolve complex issues.
• Maintain accurate and site appropriate equipment inventories

Position Requirements

• Associate or technical degree in electrical, renewable energy, engineering technology, construction management or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in solar operations, electrical maintenance, project management. field service, project coordination or related technical operations.
• Basic understanding of solar photovoltaic systems and electrical equipment, including troubleshooting practices and preventative maintenance activities preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work independently in a field environment, prioritize issues, and elevate safety, performance, or reliability concerns appropriately.
• Travel Requirements: Approximately 10% travel, including overnight stays at solar sites throughout the Northeast region.

Other Details

• Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $64,000- $86,500.
• Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.
• This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.
