Job summary

ACT Power Services, LLC is seeking a Field Service Technician in Rochester, MN to perform safe, productive repairs and maintenance of commercial and utility-scale solar PV plants. The role includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and practical learning opportunities in electrical theory and NEC standards.

You will work on solar modules, strings, trackers, and inverters, with a focus on safety, reliability, and timely service reports.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with electrical systems and components.
• Proficiency with power tools for repair tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and 70B.
• OSHA 10 General Industry certificate.
• Must be able to travel, on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Uphold a high level of safety standards in everything you do.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities.
• Willingness to learn the NEC code, electrical theory, and industry best practices.
• DC and AC testing including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V tracing.
• Interpret schematics to understand system layouts and connections.
• Maintain maintenance schedules for equipment at solar facilities (trackers, inverters, transformers, disconnects).
• Maintain company property and service reports, safety paperwork, and spare parts inventory.
• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting training to technicians and others as needed.
• Identify safety hazards and take action to mitigate hazards.
