Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; vocational/technical training is a plus.
  • Minimum four years of experience in solar facility maintenance and repair.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of solar systems, protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters and transformers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and telemetry issues.
  • Ability to pass exams on electrical schematics/symbols and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
  • OSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70e safety training.
  • Self-sufficient and safety-conscious in all conditions.
  • Strong English communication and written skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the top function and ensure compliant practices on site.
  • Perform, direct, and supervise site maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure a safe working environment per company and industry standards.
  • Implement repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment with proper training.
  • Lead safety regulation adherence for the team.
  • Train Solar Technician Levels I–IV and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Prepare timely documentation and required site operation reports.
  • Coordinate with EPC management on improvements and new technologies.
  • Assist on-call emergencies and collaborate with PM, OCC, HV, SCADA, IT teams.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
  • Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working
  • Able to perform all essential Field Service Technician Levels 1-4 job responsibilities
  • Preform, direct, and supervise site maintenance, repair, troubleshooting as directed by management, adhering to company and industry safety standards
  • Ensure a safe working environment through strict adherence to and enforcement of company and industry safety standards
  • Implement repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment, systems and plants with a minimum amount of training and familiarization safely
  • Direct and take responsibility for safety regulations and work procedures for the team
  • Understand, follow and communicate safety regulations and work procedures
  • Supervise and provide ongoing training for Solar Technician Level I, II, III, and IV employees
  • Prepare timely and accurate documentation and required reports related to site operation
  • Assessing and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with EPC management regarding the implementation of these improvements

  • Respond "on‑call" as directed by supervisor to assist in emergency equipment repairs.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent, Vocational/Technical School training a plus
  • Minimum four years of experience in solar facility maintenance and repair
  • Demonstrate advanced computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
  • Advanced working knowledge of solar systems/plants, protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters and transformers
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and telemetry issues
  • Ability to pass an exam on international and domestic electrical schematics and symbols
  • Ability to pass an exam on electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to pass an exam on reading and interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
  • Effective computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
  • Valid OSHA 30 certification
  • Valid NFPA 70e Safety Training certification
  • Remain Current in all safety and technical trainings
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient and safe under any conditions
  • Effective verbal and written English language communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • To work well with PM, management, OCC, HV, SCADA, Performance, Networking/IT, Compliance teams
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on an "on call" basis (may include weekends or after-hours situations)
  • Ability to work with other techs to be able to complete tasks with these team members
  • Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle
  • Ability to assess safety items and issue Stop Work if concerns are raised
Additional Skills or Experience Requirements
  • Ability to do monthly reporting for both maintenance reports and performance reports
  • Ability to create and adhere to site specific schedules
  • To know complete site scope and contract
  • Ability to prioritize levels of response to issues across the numerous plants in the region, and determine most effective use of resources available
  • Work with the Performance teams to know and meet availability guarantees, and build risk management strategies to mitigate any shortfalls
  • To interact with various Asset managers and owner's reps, such as creating and running conference calls, onsite meetings, as well as keeping them effectively connected with the operation of their facilities
  • Take ownership of the facilities they oversee, being able to field owner questions and concerns providing assurance of services rendered
  • Ability to provide detailed costs and services needed to the PM teams for pricing so they can make accurate estimates/PCI's to owners
  • Ability to find and work with various vendors, as well as understanding the scopes requested. Example: Electrical, landscaping, module washing etc.
  • Ability to know the safety aspects of having other contractors onsite, and the safety requirements
  • To know the proper way to handle a security or safety issues, or who to reach out to if these events occur
  • Ability to train other techs and know their strengths and weaknesses on onsite items as well as other
