Job summary

PCL Solar Constructors USA Inc. is seeking Solar Field Engineering Interns for multiple project sites across the U.S. Interns will gain hands-on experience in project execution, coordination and problem-solving on live construction sites.

Applicants must be full-time students in construction-related fields, with interest in solar/renewable energy and a career in project management, field supervision or estimating. Housing allowance may be provided for relocated candidates.

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry.
• Interest in Solar/Renewable Energy and construction project management, field supervision or estimating.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site.
• Able to work full time May–August at a project site; housing allowance may be provided for relocated candidates.
• Able to navigate a construction site daily, climb ladders and stairs.
• Employment with PCL requires passing a background check and substance abuse test.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers and Superintendents.
• Conducts safety audits and quality audits.
• Reads and understands drawings and specifications.
• Logs submittals and processes RFIs.
• Assists with surveying and project layout.
• Maintains and updates field drawings, field equipment and records.
• Coordinates subcontractors, vendors and field staff.
• Attends project meetings and prepares memoranda and contracts.
• Assists with project documentation and pricing solicitations.

Interns must be available to work full time from May to August 2027.

Here’s how a(n) Solar Field Engineer Intern contributes to our team:

• Assists Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents


• Conducts safety audits and quality audits


• Reads and understands drawings and specifications


• Logs submittals and process RFI’s


• Assists with surveying and project layout


• Maintains and updates field drawings, field equipment and records


• Assists with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field staff


• Attends relevant project meetings


• Prepares memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents


• Assists with project documentation requirements


• Assists with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing


• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full‑time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry (e.g. construction management, construction engineering, construction technology, etc.)


• Desire to pursue a career in Solar/Renewable Energy and construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.


• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older


• Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site


• Able to work full time from May to August at a project site where our construction projects are located (a monthly housing allowance will be provided to selected candidates who are working in an area different from their residence)


• Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs


• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and substance abuse test conducted by a third party


• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is between $18 and $24 an hour. PCL Intern wages are determined individually for each student based on the number of completed school terms, relevant work terms, kind of role and work location.
