Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an engineering student to design and engineer commercial PV solar systems from 100kW to 20MW, and to integrate energy storage. The role involves creating construction documents in AutoCAD, collecting site data, and preparing interconnection and permit applications.

The candidate will travel to project sites as needed and support Houston-area projects in a hybrid office/remote schedule.

Qualifications

• Engineering student actively pursuing an degree.
• Preferred BS in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 1+ years’ experience working with AutoCAD.
• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.
• Ability to travel to project sites to gather site-specific data.

Job description

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size


• Integrate energy storage systems into solar PV systems


• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD


• Develop specifications and collect data


• Complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications


• Travel to project sites to gather site-specific data as required


• Perform site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst


• Support solar PV engineering work from the Houston office with a hybrid in-office and remote schedule

Requirements

• Engineering student


• Preferred BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related discipline


• 1+ years’ experience working with AutoCAD


• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm


• Ability to travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required
