Job summary

CMTA, a Legence company, is offering a Solar Engineer Intern/Co-op Spring 2027 in Fairfax, Virginia. The program provides hands-on experience in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting, PV design, and energy modeling under licensed engineers.

You will participate in site visits, energy calculations, and CAD documentation, gaining field exposure and project development experience that prepares you for full-time careers in energy solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BSEE, preferably a sophomore or junior.
• CAD experience is helpful but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to travel for field work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of the project development phase – including site visits, building audits, energy calculations in relation to PV arrays
• Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate feasibility of energy savings measures such as PV arrays
• Produce detailed construction documents using CAD for new PV arrays
• Field verify proper installation and implementation of PV array
