Job summary

Ampacity is building out a full electrical distribution offering for utility-scale solar projects. We seek a Design Engineer to independently design, review, and sign off on electrical deliverables, sizing MV cable, building BOMs, and leading design reviews with real ownership from day one.

You will work with our PE-licensed Electrical Engineering Manager, applying NEC/IEEE standards, and collaborating across structural teams. This role evolves with the business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of electrical design experience with utility-scale solar experience.
• Knowledge of BOS components and NEC articles 690, 691.
• Experience in BOM development and cross-team collaboration.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical drawings and prepare deliverable packages for utility-scale solar projects.
• Lead design reviews and sign off on deliverables.
• Size harnesses and MV cable and collection systems.
• Apply NEC/IEEE standards to design decisions.
• Collaborate with the structural team and contribute to internal design tools.
• Mentor junior team members as the department grows.
